Serving Others
Serving the Parish

We are involved with Blue Star Mothers of Buchanan. Blue Star Mothers is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian organization comprised of mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, legal guardians, foster mothers who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves or children who are veterans.   They collect individually wrapped items to send to the troops on a quarterly basis.

Items such as:

beef jerky, slim jims

drink mixes for bottled water,

pop tarts,

cereal or granola bars,

microwave popcorn,

hot drink packets, ready to eat soup or fruit in pop top cans,

band aids,

shaving cream in squeeze tubes,

chap sticks,

nail clippers or anything that you think a service person would enjoy.

We are also collecting cards that they can have to mail home to their loved ones.

Money to help defray the cost of postage is always welcome.

Cancelled until further notice

Trinity Episcopal Church has many outreach ministries.  Our oldest one is our Saturday Lunchins.  Carol Neumann started this ministry many years ago as a once a month occurrence. She knew that many people were able to get meals during the week but not on the weekends.

It was eventually taken on by the Men’s Group and it grew to involve other churches so that every Saturday at Trinity Church there is a meal provided to anyone who would like to come.  Each church decides on the menu and if there will be to go boxes.

Being good stewards of our earthly home, we are switching over to either reusable or biodegradable containers.  Anyone who would like to contribute to this ministry is welcome to do so.  Food Staples are always welcome as are the reusable or biodegradable containers.  Gil MacNeill is chair, and John Christy is co-chair.  Please feel free to contact them through the church if you have questions.  Anyone that would like to assist with the Lunchins is more than welcome to bring a dish to pass or just hands to help.

Jill Garmin is collecting those pesky plastic bags that we get from every store.  Jill prepares them for donation to the Portage Prairie United Methodist Church where they transform these plastic bags into padded mats for homeless people in our area.

Shirley Miller heads up our Layette donation ministry.  She collects or makes baby afghans, receiving blankets, buys onesies, socks, etc. to give to Lakeland Hospital in Niles to hand out to needy families.

Being active in the life of the parish is also important. Your gifts can be used in many different ways. Contact the Rector should you wish to help in any of the following ways:
